Renovation of two existing flats into one split-level townhouse was the challenge in this recent San Francisco project. This owner's lifestyle demanded an open kitchen and entertainment area, maximizing the panoramic downtown view. The residence was gutted to bare walls and exposed structural beams replace bearing walls to achieve this effect. Ample shelving and custom hardwood cabinets offer storage and display areas for the owner's collection of East Asian artifacts.
